Karlson has been recycling IT assets in the UK and Europe since 2003, offering an end-to-end 'lifecycle management' solution for customers wishing to install, decommission, maintain or dispose of their IT assets.
- The service aims to ensure efficient removal of your redundant assets and, where possible, return on investment. So, if you are looking to maximise the value of your end-of-life IT equipment please contact us to discuss your requirements in greater detail.

Inventory Management
-
-
- Having visibility of your IT assets is the first step to controlling them.
- When maximising return on investment and reducing total cost of ownership (TCO) of IT assets, a complete view of your equipment and its location is essential. Often this information is not readily available, however, as the continuous process of refreshing equipment means it's easy to lose track.
- We offer a full inventory reporting service, providing customers with the information they need to assess inventory, evaluate total cost of ownership and plan future requirements.
- We provide a detailed report within 5 working days of our inventory audit. For a live IT environment - where access is limited and disruption needs to be minimal - we detail assets to unit level. Decommissioned equipment is broken down to component level and rated on cosmetic condition.
- The inventory management service has the following benefits:
- complete IT asset visibility
- full control over total cost of ownership
- full asset breakdown
- easy asset valuation
- detailed report within 5 working days of inventory check
-
Equipment Residual Valuation
-
-
- Our comprehensive asset valuation service ensures greater financial control and a deeper understanding of the total cost of ownership of your IT estate. The service also enables clients to budget for technology refresh projects by establishing indicative market trade-in values, as well assessing the book value impact of items still in use.
- This is done using an extensive network of global partners to gain indicative prices for end-of-life equipment. In addition to putting a trade value to IT estates, we also provide a rationale behind the valuation based on market trends for the specific equipment at that point in time.
- Each valuation is provided in electronic or print format within five working days.
- Here are some of the benefits:
- comprehensive asset valuation
- TCO control
- end-of-life market value based on current market trends
- budgetary control for technology refresh projects
- electronic or printed report
-
Decommission and Recovery
-
-
- Typically IT equipment has a life of 3-5 years. Aside from financial and data security implications, the physical removal of the assets needs careful consideration. Our decommissioning and recovery service ensures that, before any equipment is removed, we conduct a full site survey to assess logistics.
- We look at accessibility, dimensions and disruption impact and provide a removal report covering manpower and technical requirements, partner logistics and estimated timeframes.
- Once this has been agreed, our engineers will commence decommissioning and recovery, ensuring all equipment removed with minimal disruption and in such a way as to preserve its condition and value. If the equipment is simply to be removed for disposal then this is carried out in full accordance with Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations.

Global Remarketing
-
-

- IT Auctions offer a full remarketing service to ensure the best possible value for equipment that's resalable, and compliant environmental disposal of equipment that isn't. We can provide a genuine revenue stream to our clients through refurbishment.

CESG Approved On-Site Data Deletion
-
-
-
- 100% removal of all data for absolute peace of mind
- on-site risk assessment
- tailored solutions from data wiping to granulation
- certificate of data destruction
- Before removing end-of-life IT equipment from the network and premises, secure removal of data is a key consideration. Data security is of paramount concern, so we provide a government approved on-site data deletion service in line with CESG Infosec Standard 5, the most recognised data erasure standard guaranteeing 100% secure data removal.
- We will carry out a site survey and produce a full report on the data bearing assets to be erased, including a risk assessment, recommendations and technical requirements. Simply deleting files or reformatting the disk does not delete data; it merely removes the tag pointing to the data, making it easy to relocate with basic and readily available software.
- IT Auctions submits a full audit of every data bearing device erased, providing our clients with a certificate of data removal. Once cleaned, the hard drives are then safe to remarket.
- Hard drive granulation: When absolute peace of mind and security is paramount, IT Auctions can provide on-site hard drive granulation. This service completely destroys the hard drive by reducing it to a pile of granules, which are then removed from site for environmental recycling.
-
WEEE Compliant Environmental Recycling
-
-
- IT Auctions is a fully Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) for WEEE and compliant with all relevant Government regulations concerning the disposal of electronic equipment.
- We guarantee the safe disposal of hazardous materials recovered from IT equipment in line with current WEEE regulations.
- Our WEEE approval number is WEE/CF0005ZT/ATF.
- Our robust operating processes are designed to provide customers with peace of mind that their equipment is handled correctly and ethically, enabling customers to comply with the WEEE Regulations and providing a proven audit trail that can be examined at any point.
