Our History

- Karlson UK LTD was formed in 2003, when long term friends Bill Todd and Martyn Kidd finally became business partners.
- Just prior to 2003 Martyn joined Kevin Hogg in a venture concentrating on new business within the Cambridge and Suffolk corridor, which also become part of the early development of the business. This business provided a solid foundation to work from, as did the introduction of. Kevin Hogg’s as the Financial Director, who provided tremendous experience and knowledge within sales, finance and service.
- In parallel the introduction of Christian Downes, who had worked with Bill at Danka joined Karlson as Sales Operations Director for his industry knowledge and dynamic sales ability.
- During the first 9 months of trading new customers, such as CWU, Hermes, KLM Airlines, HVCA and Olympus complemented the small acquisition of customer with Suffolk.
- Karlson was well and truly off and running and had created a solid business without external finance. A business built purely through hard work and great reputations. Karlson's new customers enjoyed being part of this new entity, with a genuine interest observing Karlson develop whilst benefiting from its unique service offering. Karlson began to expand, moved from serviced office to the city and soon they had a young sales force with supporting administration and service engineers.
- By 2006 Karlson had earned the right to increase its capacity and moved to larger premises, while the management team also appreciated that Karlson needed to evolve further, offering more than just good service and strong account management. This triggered the reemphasis on developing the “Workplace Technology” message. Creating depth in IT provided the key differentiator to expanding the business offering and supported the next stage growth of the business.
- After careful consideration during 2007/8, and initial consulting phase: Stephen Todd joined Karlson providing the vital missing piece of the puzzle. His arrival created the change that the company required and equipped the business with the ability to 'Bridge the Gap' between IT and Print Technology, whilst also creating an expanded set of technology services.
- Steve's twenty-plus years’ IT experience, allowed Karlson to refine its value proposition, process and sales strategy offering new and existing Karlson customers a greater choice.
- Karlson continues to grow organically and new and old customers still enjoy the highest level of service and commitment. This is testament to the vision, process, desire of all staff and partner channel who have embraced the Karlson ethos and business ethic.
- Karlson Workplace Technology now represents a business that can truly offer its customers a complete Workplace Technology Solutions that genuinely, improves Productivity, Reduces operating cost and provides a positive impact to carbon footprint within the workplace.
- The management team is incredibly proud of Karlson’s achievements. During 2011 the business continues to refine its message and soon will be launching a new web site, taking the business through its third iteration of development. Customer satisfaction and loyalty can only exist if Karlson continue to delivering the very highest level of service. Karlson UK LTD will continually strive to surpass customer's expectations and provide excellent service to all its customers, new and old.
